Snorkeling tours come with light pastry snacks, hot tea and ice water. Prices: $49/person/trip. Book a Tour > Bird Watching Tours Our bird watching tour is 4 hours long and takes thru the hills and jungles of Yap in search of bird life endemic to the island, from the Yap Monarch to the Micronesian Starling. Problems in the Small Islands Environment The ocean covers more than two thirds of our planet, and small island developing States are generally somewhere in the middle of it. Their environmental priorities concern the islands themselves and their immediate coastal areas, where the balance of population and resources is critical for the future.

Yap Island, one of the four Federated States of Micronesia, lies at the Western edge of the Pacific Ocean 9° North of the equator. A unique island culture and visitor experience is the traveler’s reward on the island of Stone Money. Soon our 9-seater missionary plane was circling Fais, a tiny raised atoll in the Outer Islands of Yap, the westernmost state of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). We passed tall cliffs against which the ocean threw itself, sending up white arms of spray clutching at the plane that sped overhead and hinting at the limitless power that lay.

Yap (also known as Wa'ab) is located in Yap State of the Federated States of Micronesia. The island of Yap actually consists of four islands joined by a common coral reef. The land is mostly rolling hills densely covered with vegetation. Mangrove swamps line much of the shore. Water is a critical ingredient in all social and economic endeavours. Though Malaysia is endowed with abundant water resources, the country is experiencing increased demand for water in recent years.
